Artist in Residence

The latest of our Artist in Residence schemes was another huge success. Joanna Parkes our Artist in Residence is a drama facilitator. The title of our project was “The dragon who loved a good story” and its theme was the magic and wonder of stories.
The residency used experiential, lived-through drama processes to explore the wonder and magic of stories, stories we make up and traditional stories passed down through the generations. The residency was divided into two sections, the first section involved a story about a dragon that evolved and developed over a five week drama process. The second section explored stories from around Europe and linked to the Blue Flag project and Europe Day.
The children really enjoyed the experience. They used their imaginations and creativity to work with others, they developed and explored the story, they solved problems and communicated their thoughts and ideas. It was a wonderful project, we are indebted to Ms Considine, our teacher leader, Melanie Scott, Arts Officer with Tipperary County Council and of course Joanna, our artist.
