To mark the end of Global Goals Week and the start of Catholic Schools Week we watched a cartoon explanation of Laudato Si'. Laudato Si' is a letter from Pope Francis asking us to look after our planet to make the world a better place for everyone who lives with us. He reminds us that it is the poorest people of our planet who suffer most from climate change and pollution. Both climate change and pollution are directly related to actions we take every day.
We are asked "Do you turn off the lights when they are not being used? Do you waste water? Do you recycle?" Small things we do every day can have a big impact on protecting the earth, our common home. We are a Green School so these are part of our daily lives, let's keep these positive actions going. Pope Francis says "The earth is God's gift to us, full of beauty and wonder and it belongs to everyone."
Sixth Class read the Global Goals to us and explained how each one would help improve our world. They made a pledge to work towards the Goals, now and always. Global Goal #17 is Partnership For The Goals, now that we know more about them we can all work in partnership. The assembly finished off with "This is my wish", very fititng and sung beautifully by Sixth Class. Well done Sixth and thank you for a great finish to Global Goals Week!
